Wherever the Snowy Wind Takes Us
What should I write next? Take my poll! Also, my snowiest book (or at least one of them), a great site for fantasy romance books, and some of the decorations in my writing area.
Hello, you beautiful book-reading animals you!
How is life treating my favorite story lovers these days? Happy December to anyone reading this on day one of the new month. I hope the inevitable slide toward the first day of winter is treating you well. We had a little bit of snow at my place over the Thanksgiving holiday. Not too much, but everything frosted up into a pretty winter wonderland for a couple of days. I have to admit, I find snow-scapes among the most beautiful to observe and I love going on winter hikes. That’s probably why I enjoy writing stories set in cold weather locations. My “snowiest” book, by far, is Snow Maiden, which is also the first book I ever published. Nika and Vasilli’s love story was inspired by both the Snow Queen character from the famous Nutcracker Ballet and the Russian folktale, Snegurochka. If you haven’t read it yet and are looking for a winter fairy tale to enjoy, it’s available at all the usual places in both ebook and paperback. Here’s a sample that includes the full beginning, if you like to try before you buy. ;)
It’s funny, I noticed a while back that a couple of readers had expressed an interest in reading more about Nika’s parents. That magical pair are mentioned somewhat briefly in Snow Maiden, but I did always think it would be a fun sort of origin story or prequel to explore. As I’m always looking for inspiration for flash fiction, short stories, and the like to share with you here in the lair, that might be a fun future project to work on.
What do you think? Would you like to read a new winter fantasy story or maybe a continuation of something else that I’ve written? Take the poll and let me know your preference:
If you picked the final option, you are hereby obligated to comment with ideas. Haha!
Okay, Monsters, I thought I should let you know that I decided not to join the melee of Black Friday and Cyber Week this year. I’ll do my own specials later, and when I run a discount or giveaway, you’ll be the first to know! I just kind of wasn’t feeling it this time around myself, but I did see that the lovely folks over at FaRoFeb are offering 24 free books this month on their site, and they have other freebies going on all the time. If you’d like to pop over there and have a look, I know they’d love to have you.
One more very important thing before I wrap up! If you’re a new subscriber from within the last 2 or 3 weeks, first of all, welcome! We’re so glad you’re here! Be sure to introduce yourself down in the comments section and let us know where your from. Second, I changed the service provider for my free sign-up novella, Pearl of the Moon. So, if you tried to access the download and found it unavailable, here is the new link. Enjoy!
As promised in the subtitle, here’s a little look at a couple of my favorite decorations from the room I do most of my writing in. This sweet pair comes from our end of summer stay at the Jellystone camp and waterpark in Larkspur, CO. I think their darling and they remind me of some great times spent with my kiddos.
Till next time, friends…
Stay in the Magic!
