Real, Blue, Cocktail Recipe from my Very Fictional Bar
Story cocktail number four from Ramone's Party Cove!
Hang on to your hats, Monsters,
Just wait till you see what I’ve been cooking up for you here in our book lovers’ lair. You guessed it, it’s time for Storm Tide’s book cocktail, yum! It took me awhile to get the perfect blue color that I wanted to depict the drink from the scene in the book that inspired it, but this one worked out great. Alright, I want you to take a minute and just imagine me slaving away, trying out different adult beverages, all to make the perfect concoction for you, lovely book monster, to enjoy this weekend while your lounging around with your copy of Storm Tide. It’s grueling work, I tell ya, but I persevered through all the pain and I got it done.
On that note, since it’s July, I gotta know, do you have a favorite summer cocktail?
(This is my sneaky way of getting ideas for my next book cocktail. Please, bombard me with suggestions.)
For those of you that are new to the lair, whenever I get ready to release a new book in my Tides of Atlantis series, I always send a recipe card out to my VIP readers (that’s you, lairling) for a drink that’s inspired by a scene in that particular book. If you’ve read any of the other Tides books, you’ll recognize Ramone’s Party Cove as the Miami nightclub owned by super-hot Atlantean King, Adam Atlas. It’s a fun way to celebrate the new book, and I enjoy imagining party goers and immortals alike patronizing Adam’s bar, imbibing together while another Tides world adventure spins out of control under their noses, lol. If you missed any of the other three drinks or want those recipes again, you can find them in this post - here’s the link.
Be sure to grab your copy of Storm Tide so you’ll have both book and drink in hand for the ultimate reading experience. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B6GJ7KS9
Now, my gorgeous Monsters, get ready for our blue, “Night Sky in a glass” cocktail to celebrate the coming Storm Tide:
Scene from the book that inspired the drink:
****
Everywhere they looked there were plants, frozen and yet not. They lived, but didn’t. A frozen pall mired everything here, even though Isdra no longer felt the cold.
“This land is suspended, stopped.”
Isdra nodded at Karr’s summary of what they saw. The description fit perfectly.
Vala snorted. Her back to them, she shot a smile over one leathery shoulder, her giant form hiding whatever lay in front of her. Then she turned her back to them again.
“What a strange place.” Isdra whispered, catching Karr’s eye. They glanced around while Vala worked in silence. Tall columns and even sheer draperies decorated the area, all frosted over in shimmering blue silver. Sculptures marked paths on either side of where they stood, magnificently obscured by a glistening blue rime. Ice crusted everything, preserving all. Just as Karr had said, time had stopped here, but why? And when?
“Welcome to the fountainss of Emar.” Vala turned, her big scaled hands filled with glass goblets. “It isss a healing place, the only one of itss kind in all of Atlantisss.”
“Emar?” Karr’s brow wrinkled. Isdra noticed the hint of recognition in his voice.
“Mmmm, the Isle of Emar. A kingdom from the time when Poseidon’ss great nation ruled the world. Itss king, Euaimon,” the dragon bowed her head in Karr’s direction, “boasted far and wide of the healing waterss in his kingdom’ss garden.
Vala offered them glasses. Her snout dipped down, urging them to partake. Karr gave the vessels a suspicious look. Isdra’s eyes widened, but she nodded, then gently lifted a glass out of Vala’s palm. Karr did the same. When Vala lifted the last glass, shining blue liquid sparkled inside it. Isdra swirled her glass around, holding it up in the light to watch its starry contents.
“It’s like the night’s sky in a glass.” Karr said. Isdra looked to find him holding his goblet in the same manner as she, tipping it and staring.”
“Yesss,” Vala lifted her goblet, dwarfed and infinitely fragile-looking in her large hand. “Now we sssip… and we heal.”
I know that scene is a bit cryptic. I’m trying avoid spoilers as much as I can, lol. Hope you enjoyed the little snippet of Karr and Isdra in that setting. I hope you enjoy the drink too! If you do try it, I’d love to see pictures of your concoctions. You can send them in a reply to this email.
That’s about all for now. I’ll post here in the lair when Storm Tide goes live, so be on the lookout for that. A special thanks to all the readers that signed up for an arc of the book. All the feedback so far has been great! I look forward to hearing what everyone else thinks of my selkie / Viking romance, and as with all my writing, I just hope to bring a little spark of enjoyment into your life with my words.
I promise to bring you some more great book recs and deals very soon. My last couple emails have been a little thin in that area lately, so I’ll keep an eye out for more things to share with you here. In the meantime, I’d love to hear about what you’ve been reading, or watching, or really anything that you’re excited about right now.
Till next time, lovelies,
Stay in the magic!
Ooh fun! The drink looks amazing! I'll have to assemble some ingredients and give it a try. And, I can't resist a preorder... The excerpts have me so intrigued!
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy both! 😊
