Hi Monsters!
We’re at the end of the month and, I have to say, May really flew by for me, how about you? I swear, the end of the school year always feels like a blur of activity. Congratulations to all the new graduates out there! We didn’t have any graduations to attend this year, but my son’s continuation ceremony happened last week, so we’ll have another high-schooler in the house come fall. Crazy times!
Did you attend any graduation celebrations this month?
I guess I have a little continuation of my own going on. I’m excited to announce the very first, never-before-seen, brand new chapter of Wolf’s Captive went up this week! Since I decided to add on to Grim and Angel’s story, I’ve been antsy to share some new writing on it. Here’s a little look at an excerpt I posted from the final scene that had previously been published as an anthology piece ICYMI:
“Did the council say anything about the rest of the villains?”
I shake my head.
“They didn’t. I think they’re all really embarrassed that their foolproof system failed.” I shrug, but now he has me wondering about his other “dungeon mates.”
“I have to be supervised, you said.” One of his dark eyebrows lifts in disdain. I set down my tea and spread my hands out on his big chest.
“Yes,” I say brightly. His eyes narrow at my exuberance. “I would, of course, volunteer to babysit you, Wolf.”
I smile up at him, the picture of innocence. He gives me an arch look.
“Oh, you would, would you?”
I nod, then squeak when he pinches my bottom cheek. I’m about to protest, but he covers my mouth with his.
***
“Mmm,” he grunts, a wary sound. I nod and slide my phone into the front pocket of his pants for no other reason than I can’t keep my hands off him.
Now, for something new…
Here’s a snippet from the opening of the brand new scene I posted on Ream this week:
*****
In a flash, my mind goes back to last night again. I give a husky moan into Grim’s mouth, my mind already made up about what to do with what remains of the day, so lost in the taste of him I barely notice his pant pocket vibrating. I pull back, dazed.
“Uh,” my eyes wander downward, not ignoring the hard bulge in the front of his pants. I know he thinks I’m a perv until I slide my gaze over a couple of inches and we both realize I’m getting a call.
My wolf growls, shoving his hand into his pocket to grab the offending cell, but the electronic nuisance stops buzzing. Grim frowns at it. He reaches back to set it on the counter, but before he does, the screen lights up. He thumbs it open and reads the text. His scowl darkens. Uh oh, I hope this doesn’t mean I’m going to have to put off letting him take me back to bed.
“What is it?” I ask, unable to contain myself any longer. The schedule I had worked up in my lust filled brain did not allow for any deviation the way I saw it. The scowl taking over Grim’s face as he reads says otherwise. My hands go to my hips.
“Who…?”
“It’s Lucien.” He answers my unfinished question.
“Well, is everything okay? Where is he? Because the council wants to meet with him…” I trail off at the dark look on his face.
“He’s going back into Realm.”
“The game? Why would he do that?” I shake my head. Things aren’t making sense here. “Better yet, how?”

To find out what the heck is going on, you can read more and follow this story in real time here.
Read the blurb for Wolf’s Captive
(I don’t think I’ve put this up for you here in the lair yet.)
Fresh out of the pages of a book, er… video game, steps the villain she secretly fantasizes about. How could a character so attractive be so, well, bad? Their families’ history together goes way, way back, and Angel thought she could get away with admiring him from behind a screen, tormenting him for her own entertainment, while he stayed safely trapped inside his digital prison. But, now he’s here. In the real world. And this time around, Grimshaw Warvorecht has one thing on his mind… revenge!
All through her growing up years, Angel had waited and waited for her power as a magickal to make itself evident. When she reached adulthood and it never did, she gave up hope. The legacy of her family would die with her. All she’d ever wanted was for a way to prove herself useful to the witches, warlocks and other magickals that hold the evils of this world at bay to present itself. Will a run in with the infamous Big Bad Wolf on Halloween night help her find it?
Trigger warnings:
Gropy-ness upon first meeting, fair amount of pushy-shovy-ness from an alpha-male-type in the beginning, tragic past, fear topics, and facing fears.
Well, my awesome Monsters, that’s all the new writing I have to share with you today. I will say that I have the new, revised chapter of Snow Maiden going up on Ream later today in the Sirens tier… and it’s the wedding scene! *Sigh* I loved writing that scene. It was so much fun imagining the scenery of a northern, winter vale and researching ancient, Slavic wedding customs for it. Next week, I’ll be posting the “what happens after the wedding” scene—I’m betting you can guess. ;) Lol.
Have you read Snow Maiden yet?
Well, that catches you up on all my news for the week. The rest is just chickens and yard work, meh. Do be sure to share any of your own news down in comments or in a reply to this email. You know I love hearing what you’re up to.
As we head into June, I’ll be bringing you more new writing and more story related fun. Stay tuned! And before you go, have a look at these great looking books I found floating around in the ether. If you grab any of them, be sure to let us know what you think here in the lair.
Till next time, know that I’m wishing you many happy times and many magical reading adventures!
