Happy Friday, Monsters! Today’s the day. Storm Tide is now live—woohoo!
I can’t tell you how happy I am to finally, finally, publish this book. It’s been a long time coming. I’m so grateful to all of you who have been so patient in waiting for this book. I’m going to cut the crap and be very honest with you, there were times when I worried it wasn’t going to come together at all. I’m really happy with the way Karr and Isdra’s Tides story turned out, though, and I hope you end up loving these two characters as much as I do.
There were a lot of stops and starts with my writing process this time around, due in part to the crazy times we’re living in, but probably even more than any of that, I’ll admit here in the lair (because this is the perfect place to admit such a thing) that my characters took a long time in revealing who they are to me. It sounds weird, I know. It’s true though, what they say about characters taking over and running the story. Coming off of writing King of the Tides, I still had warrior-woman Marley over-tones filling my headspace. I thought Isdra would definitely be a Viking style warrior woman too. That line of thinking (call it what it is—stubborness, on my part) was like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. It took poor Isdra a while to get it through my head that that wasn’t who she truly was. She’s strong too, but in a different way. When you read the book, you’ll see what I mean. If there’s something I never want to do with my writing, it’s not tell the truth about my characters’ natures. In fact, I try to always tell the truth period. Even when writing highly fantastical romance novels, lol. As a long-time reader and story lover, I can say that I’ve actually found a lot of truths within the fantasy genre. I’m sure you’ve found that too.
Anyway, once I figured out the problem, everything fit together. I fell in love with the Tides of Atlantis world all over again, in a new way. I’ve even heard from some of my early readers that Karr and Isdra are their favorite Tides couple. You’ll have to let me know what you think of their icy, magical, adventure-filled romance. You can purchase the book here for just 99 cents through the weekend.
Alright, you sexy book beasts, I’m off to post about the release of Storm on all my social media platforms now. If you’d like to follow me on any of them, I’d love to connect with you there too. I’ll be doing some giveaways throughout the next week, in various places, so the more places you follow me, the more chances you have. Which reminds me… let’s do a giveaway here in the lair! For a chance to win an ebook copy of Storm Tide, tell me something true about you (doesn’t have to be anything crazy. It can be that you like ketchup on your steak. I promise I don’t judge… even that.) Leave your answers down in comments or in a reply to this email and I’ll announce the winner in my next newsletter posting.
Till we speak again, lovely Monsters, I hope you have an amazing weekend and wish you many hours of happy reading!
Magically Yours,
Amanda V Shane
