Hey there, you awesome book reading beasts!
Here we are into February already—can you believe it? I swear I got so bogged down trying to make my way through last month that I didn’t even realize I’d survived January! Just kidding, but does anyone else feel like last month was the longest month EVER?? Let’s all take a big, healing breath in through the nose and then a nice, fat, sloppy raspberry out to blow it all away. Yes, very good, Monsters. You’re feeling calm and refreshed now. I promise. It’s all very zen here in our readers’ lair.
Right.
Teehee. Okay, enough funny business. Moving on.
I wanted to come up with something fun for us today, and I thought, holy crap, Valentine’s Day is coming up and I got nothin! Nothing Valentine’s specific anyway, so I’m placing this little love bite from Shakespeare here to herald the upcoming holiday in lieu of a grande, schmaltzy, romantic post. And since I’m sharing five favorite things from last month, we’ll count this as number one, seeing as how I’ve been enjoying going through my old copy of Love Poems and Sonnets of William Shakespeare.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays. I even performed in the ballet when I was about fourteen. I danced the part of the fairy, Peaseblossom, if you can imagine. :-) If you’re in the mood to read more love quotes, and you missed me on Notes where I shared this link already, have a look at this older post I did a couple of Valentine’s Days ago.
Fun thing Numero duo - What I’m reading:
This Vampire romance fell into my Kindle last fall at Romance Bookworm’s Stuff Your EReader event and am loving it so far. I dove into it just the other night, but it’s off to a promising start so far. If you’re in the mood for a vampy pnr read, you might want to check it out. ;)
What I’m Writing
Number Three - Since were talking vampires…
I’ve been having a lot of fun with my vampire romance wip, which I’m tentatively calling Wicked Love. I shared a little teaser from it with you the last time we got together, i.e. in my last newsletter. By now, I’ve written quite a bit more on it, and am raring to share with you, but it’s in such a rough state that I’m a little skiddish. Plus, there’s a fun scene I’m trying to get to before I put out another excerpt. Till then, here’s a tiny tid-bit to whet your appetite:
What I’m Watching
Number Four -
Actually, on second thought, I don’t know if I want to tell you what I’ve been watching. For no other reason than I saw something the other night, and it made want to write a fanfic or something in the realm of a flash fiction or short story piece. The idea kind of won’t leave me alone. If I do write it, I will, of course, share it here with you Monsters first, which makes me not want to spoil it. Let’s see if you can guess which show has me brain wormed—here’s a hint: It may or may not be inspired by Aleksander Skarsgard’s abs. Do you have it?
What I’ve Been Listening To
Number Five -
I made a reel and the other day and it reminded me how much I love this song by Teddy Swims.
Yes, I even made a nuisance of myself by playing it over and over again, and I don’t even care. If you want to see the post I put up and read a juicy scene from my Big Bad Wolf retell, Wolf’s Captive, you can check it out here. (Note -It’s entirely okay if you keep watching the same reel over and over just because you like the song. Really.)
And that concludes my list of things that made me smile over the past couple of weeks. I hope one or two of them did the same for you. If you’d like to share something you’ve been enjoying lately, please do down in comments! I love hearing about what tickles your fancy and makes your Book Monster heart sing (or growl happily, whichever.)
Until next time, Beauties…
Stay in the magic!

I, too, enjoy diving deep into Shakespeare. Have you listened to "When Love Speaks"? It's amazing - the whole album - but this is one part on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/6rFEV2I2dniC138rzJkeMA
My glimmer for today was watching an octopus hunting up at the North Narrabeen Rockpools after completely blissing out swimming my laps. 🥰 One of my favorite things about living in this part of the world is ocean swimming on this wild and rugged coastline. 🐙🌊🏊♀️🌊🐙
