Not only is it fun to say, but chrysanthemums happen to be my favorite flower. I love how they wait through summer, then right at the end of the season, when everything else in the garden is done with the heat and fading, they have their moment. Like the grande finale of a fireworks show, they burst forth and capture everyone’s undivided attention. I also happen to be an admirer of hardy things. This probably adds to my fondness for these frilly blooms. They’re multi-colored fanfare often last well into October, even early November where I live, as long as the weather isn’t too harsh. If you saw the Netflix movie, Enola Holmes, you might even remember the fun appearance and use of this flower as a clue. (Sidenote: Henry Cavill plays Sherlock Holmes in that film, so if you haven’t seen it... Really, what more reason do you need? ;)
I think I personally identify a little bit with the humble mum because, just like this awesome plant, I always feel my creativity bloom this time of year. For some reason, the onset of fall revives my inspiration for new projects. It’s when the “magic” starts to flow.
Anyway, all this musing about flowers and seasons to say, happy weekend, Monsters! I hope your September is off to a great start. Before I go on though, tell me, do you have a certain time of year, or even of the day, when you feel most creative?
*Bonus question: What’s your favorite flower?
Okay, moving along…
I have to apologize. I tried something a little different a week ago and sent out a post in a way I hadn’t tried before. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like it reached many of you. If you missed last week’s mailing, check your spam folder or just click this link:
There’s some fun talk of dragon-y things there, and I’d love to know your answer to the question I asked. 😉
Speaking of trying new things, I’m going to have some announcements coming up soon so stay tuned to goings on here in the lair. I’m working on some different ways to share stories with you and am also scouring the book universe for great finds to talk about. Oh, and don’t forget to send me your summer reading challenge cards next week! Just put them in a reply to this post, if you’ve been playing along.
That’s all I have for now, my lovely beasts. Well, that and some more flowers.
Thanks for spending a few moments with me here in our readers’ lair. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
Till next time…
Happy Reading!
My favorite time of day to be creative is after I eat. Doesn’t matter what meal. As long as I’m fat and happy I wanna create all the things.
This summer I decided Dahlias are my favorites.
