Books & Brews
Coffee time and some dreaming about books.
Happy Friday, Beautiful Book Monsters!
The end of the week has finally arrived and I’m currently enjoying a rare, quiet cup of coffee, undisturbed—can you believe it? I know, me neither. I have some great looking book finds to share with you down below, that’s the main reason for me dropping into the lair today. But, I also realized, we’re deep in the middle of spooky season and Halloween is NEXT week! Aaargh!! How do the days keep speeding by so fast, I ask you? Just in case your in need of some last minute reads that might fit the theme, let me point you in the direction of a few of my own books and articles. Being a paranormal romance author means I actually have quite a few of such writings lying around. Go figure. =)
First off, here’s one I’m sure you’ve already seen. It’s lived on my site for a few years now. Great words are timeless, however, and merit revisiting. If you’re in the mood for some eerily beautiful quotes from horror classics, do pay your respects (lol) to my curated list:
I have a whole commentary written on horror films and books, with another curated list here, where I ask the question Haunting Fantasy or Jump Scare??
Of course you’ve read what I consider the perfect steamy/ spooky tale in the form of my book Odile, Legend of the Black Swan. Oh, wait! You haven’t? What kind of life are you even living? Seriously though, if you love haunting fairy tales that smoulder, you’ll love this book. You can even read the first chapter here for free:
These are just a few posts that fit the bill. Like I said, I have quite a few dark and spooky romance write-ups. A good combing through of my Substack site will lead you to many more. Be sure to leave a comment if you happen to stop in on any of those old “haunts” and have a read. I love traipsing down memory lane and will definitely read your thoughts and comment.
I’ll be posting many more goodies and fun finds in Notes this week. Who knows? There may even be some new writing to be shared on the villain vampire romance I’m still (yes, still) trying to work on. Speaking of my villains series — the first book, Wolf’s Captive, is a delicious little Big Bad Wolf novella, and it’s set on Halloween night! How perfect is that? It can be scooped up and added to your personal ebook library by upgrading to a paid subscription, and you’ll also get the chance to enjoy the Snow Maiden read along before it gets taken down to make room for my next community read. You can check out the blurb down below.
Angel waited and waited for her power as a magickal to make itself evident. When she reached adulthood and it never did, she gave up hope. The legacy of her family would die with her. All she’d ever wanted was to prove herself useful to the community of magickals that held evil at bay. Will a run in with the infamous Big Bad Wolf on Halloween night help her find her calling?
Trigger warnings:
Gropy-ness upon first meeting, fair amount of pushy-shovy-ness from alpha male type in the beginning, tragic past, fear topics, and facing fears.
Key Words:
Reimagined fairytale characters, cyber fantasy, witches, sexy villain, enemies to lovers

Now, for some more books I thought you might enjoy:
